Some things I learned in Vietnam

one always has a sense here that your luck is about to run out.
taxi drivers may not always take you the most direct route
counting your change may be a good idea!
it's easy to like someone if you're not under them.
We are only here for a minute, some for only a second
sometimes people just see a flag.
I somehow feel partially responsible for my country's missteps and heroic deeds, although I know neither have anything to do with me.
tragedy and brilliance always walk hand in hand
you can judge the people of a country by how they treat outsiders
crossing the street is an act of faith!
the kindness of strangers isn't entirely lost on me
Its not healthy to tango with tang.
proceed with caution when biting into that exotic meal, you may lose a tooth!
the reason westerners get into motorbike accidents is that they're trying to drive like they're back home.
not trying to lead the world has it's advantages too.
honking a horn is analogous to prayer
the wrongs of the past can be forgiven, but not so easily forgotten.
you can try to block out the world, but only at the risk of your own detriment.
jump first, worry later.
ever feel as though you are a dollar sign?
Vietnam def. - craziness coming at you sideways
if one sticks one's head inside a lion's mouth and retrieves it unscathed, one may be apt to think it is possible again.
sometimes beauty trumps talent
sometimes people try to curse you  with failure, you have to bless them back with love.
babies don't necessarily need helmets
jump into the fray and figure it out
affluence and desperation seem to be neighbors on speaking terms
the family that rides together crashes together
showboating and insecurity are twin sisters
wealth and affluence don't necessarily equal a good parenting job and happy childhood
Things that we worried so much about are meaningless now and the things we weren't paying attention to are coming for us now.
If Korea taught me anything, it was patience.
You know you're in the land of the little people when you have to sit on the floor to look in your fridge.
It's easier to look back than to go forward, but both have their blind spots and potentials for downfall and salvation.
The Vietnamese have a particular fondness for putting birds into cages.
Staying near shore may appear safer, but it's also where the jagged rocks lie.
You don't kick over a hornets nest and not expect to get stung.
Complex problems do not call for simple solutions.
Those who claim something cannot be done often find themselves being right.
I never broke down or gave up, but there were sure enough opportunities I could have.
My cultural biases are as ugly as anyone else's
Everyone gets a job, but not everyone knows how to work.
I'd rather hear laughter than crying!
What can you do in crazy town?
Being kept apart certainly lends more poetic time on the shelf than being kept together.
What good is magic when you can't help others?
Some covers are quite beautiful and certainly intriguing, but whether the story proves ultimately fulfilling is another matter.
We are all sort of like unfinished novels, it's where you catch us in the story is what makes all the difference.
Vietnam is a country of striking beauty; I can see why so many fought so hard to free her.
In America we have leaf-blowers, here it's just old fashioned bamboo brooms.
The world is a small place when nuclear missiles start flying by
You gotta have respect here or you'll just get taken out…
Sometimes it makes more sense to drive on the wrong side of the road
The sweetness of this place can suffuse my body
The Vietnamese could never be vampires, they fall asleep at the first sign of nightfall
Children aren't always the best argument that humanity should continue
